Here's a link to the LOTR-spoilers topic. You can post to your heart's content.
And, yes, I've seen it three times now. Hope to see it again before I go back to school in January.

If you haven't already, click on the The future of Hostboard link on the main page just under ZOCALO in the upper left of the main page. Basically, they're going to change the layout of the pages here; now you won't be shocked when the changes come (some time between now and the end of the month, current predictions being what they are).

Hello, everybody!
I got a new computer and lost all email and icq nubmers. I wonder if anyone who is interested would send me an email, and also include your icq number so I can get my lists going again?

Hey! Check this out...you may be surprised. A little birdie told me that Scifi Vine was sold. Possibly to Kenegan and someone else.

Got an email this morning from Kenegan C/O Scifivine. Looks like it's gonna happen.
The email is below for those who didn't get themselves on the mailing list:
Greetings,
With the progression of the New Year there has been continued feverish activity
in the development shed round the back of the house. Throughout the night there
is the sound of drilling, hammering and nerve-shredding sawing. Work is
progressing in areas of customisation and function testing, along with ongoing
research into available tools.
As I've been working on this project I've been keen to maintain perspective. I
find myself remembering what the SciFiVine was like before and thinking about
how much of that I can recapture... Then I remember that that Rome wasn't built
in a day and that this is a venture with a different mind behind it - this isn't
the Cyber crew resurrected, with all the positive and negative points such a
thing would entail.
I will soon be working on some of the terms and conditions, the guidelines and
ethics of the site. I will also be considering funding and how to support this
new community. The original Vines provided a lot for nothing and then realised
the value of the cent. Before anyone really had time to draw breath change was
in the pipeline and the place was never quite the same again. I would rather
that wasn't something that happened here. There will be features and facilities
that are freely available, but there will also be more complex features that
require membership. I hope no one will consider this inappropriate.
The current features include private messaging, a community chat area, open and
closed forums, polls, articles and various eye-candy features. Closed forums may
also include a separate private message system, allowing member groups to
develop there own sense of community and privacy. There are avatars (though
currently there is no upload functionality) that will feature on core site
forums and users will have there own personal pages that they can alone view
which will allow you to add personal links and connect your personal e-mail to
the site - making SciFiVine your perfect home page. Consideration is currently
being put into providing personal space for public-viewable home pages and
associated personalised features like private chat rooms and simple content
editing - but this will be dependent on demand for this kind of feature.
The new SciFiVine will make every effort to be open to comment and open to
making comment - two-way communication is vital to a thriving comunity and all
too often channels close when profit overrides everything else. I will continue
to send these little mails out updating you and hope that you will provide
feedback on whatever you feel is important and needs addressing. If anything
really significant comes back I may well include it - and any associated answer
- in future mailings.
This is only the beginning... a new one. SciFiVine is getting back to the
future. Thanks for your support.
